Whether it is Cathay Pacific Business Class or Economy Class, I believe the service standard they deliver is consistently great! When transiting in Hong Kong at the Chek Lap Kok airport, do remember to enjoy the great shopping experience, from Hong Kong jewellery to foodies treats such as Wing Wah Cakes, Muji, Kee Wah Bakery, Godiva Chocolatier and other souvenirs, and much more… However, these are not important when you have access to the Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge! haha. This was another major attraction of the entire Cathay Pacific Business Class experience!

The Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounges
There are altogether 5 different Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounges and 2 First Class Lounge in the Hong Kong International Airport. These are located at The Wing (T1 near gate 1-4), The Bridge (T1 near gate 35), The Cabin (T1 near gate 23), The Pier (T1 near gate 65), and The Arrival (Level 5 between T1 and T2). Of course, the two First Class Lounges are located at The Wing and The Pier which is separate from the Business Class Lounge. All of them offers a beautiful and exclusive lounge experience, with great cuisines (especially the Asian cuisines) and speciality drinks. It will never fail to amaze you!
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to visit all lounges. I was simply too amazed in the Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge at The Pier, and spent too much time in there. So, instead of the original plan to cover all five lounges, I could only describe to you my experience at The Pier! But on a positive note, this would give me a reason to fly with Cathay Pacific Airways business class again! 🙂
Now, let’s look at The Pier, Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge! 🙂
The Pier, Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge
The Pier is located at Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 1 near gate 65. I recommend taking the escalator to the lounge if you do not have many pieces of luggage because the entrance is right next to the escalator. I made the mistake of taking the lift instead and did not experience the WOW feeling, as you will face a blank wall when you get out of the lift. haha Yea, that was what I experienced! LOL
Once at the entrance, you would be able to smell the fragrance of luxury from the lounge itself. Beautifully decorated with the open and wooden concept! Providing you with a homely feel with that subdued lighting and acoustics! Once inside, you would get to see the first section of the lounge, the Food Hall! 🙂
The Food Hall
I would say, Cathay Pacific management is pretty smart to have an Asian street designed coffee cart as the first thing to greet Business Class passengers when they first enter the Food Hall. The aroma of a strong coffee brew would perk up anyone regardless if you are a coffee drinker or not! 🙂
The deli-style Food Hall resembled a food market in Australia where you could get a large variety of quick bites, from Tapas, Cheese, Sandwiches, Salads & Desserts. To put it simply, be prepared for a mouth-watering dining or snacking experience! 🙂 The food in this section are mainly Western Cuisines. In terms of decor, I was mesmerised by the fire stove in the center of the Food Hall.
Bar
Up for a drink? Or looking for a refreshment treat? The next section is the Bar in the Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge! Just like any other bar, the lounge carries many specialty drinks that can satisfy alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinkers! haha
I received two recommendations from the bartender when I was there. One was the Betsy Beer aka The Cathay Beer, the world’s first high quality crafted beer brewed to be enjoyed at 35,000ft. I was really surprised to find out from Cathay Pacific that the cabin pressure and altitude would affect passengers’ taste buds. So to overcome this problem, Cathay Pacific Airways used a combination of science and traditional brewing methods, combining the Hong Kong and UK-sourced ingredients, aroma and carbonation to produce a great taste of hand crafted beer suitable for consumptions in the air and on the ground. Amazed is the only word I could say! 🙂
If beer is not your thing, try the Cathay Delight (recommended by the bartender too). The Cathay Delight is a non-alcoholic mixed fruity cocktail, with kiwi and berries. Definitely, a refreshing welcome drink that you should try when visiting the lounge. My another personal recommendation is to try the Hong Kong style milk tea which is only unique to Cathay Pacific Airways.
Noodle Bar
Now, the Noodle Bar in the Cathay Pacific Business Lounge is a MUST! It was the most popular section of the lounge when I was there.
You must try the iconic feature noodles such as dan dan and wonton noodles or the vegetarian noodles and freshly made-to-order dimsums! I cannot emphasize enough you MUST NOT miss the noodles and dimsum experience in the Cathay Pacific Business Class lounge!
The dumplings were soooooo delicious till I ate all 10 of them in one seating, despite all the drinks I had earlier on! The vegetable noodles was a spot on too! Though I hope they would have more vegetarian options in future, the “limited” dishes in the Cathay Pacific Business Lounge menu was satisfying enough! 🙂
Teahouse
The Teahouse is only unique to the Pier Business Lounge by Cathay Pacific!
The Cathay Pacific Business Class lounge offers a superior, authentic and high-end tea experience! You can find seasonal and artisanal tea varieties served by a tea specialists! Over at the teahouse, there are many different types of teas, including exquisite green, black, and white tea, as well as a special menu with herbal, honey, and spice infusions are available. Even for a non-tea drinker or amateur tea drinker like me, I was fascinated with the ambiance setup and got interested in learning about the tea culture!
For beginners like me, there is a sensory tea experience which is part of the unique Teahouse service. The sensory tea experience allows you to have aromatic previews of the infusions. Each fine tea comes with individual instructions on optimum brews to achieve maximum taste and experience! A good place to hang out after the overeating of greasy noodles and dim sum! haha 🙂
Bureau
For the workaholics or IT dependent business travellers, The Pier lounges are well equipped with workstations that have a suite of useful tools and facilities including iMacs, printers, and high-speed internet wifi and web access. You won’t be able to find an excuse to procrastinate your work when flying with Cathay Pacific Airways Business Class! Oops, maybe not a very good news to some people! haha 🙂
Showers
Looking for a place to shower while on transit? The Pier Business Class Lounge offers 14 shower suites, all equipped with premium showering products like Aesop and clean fluffy towels. The shower facilities allowed me to refresh myself (like I was in a hotel) and forgot about the long tiring journey!
Relaxation Room
I would say when you fly with Cathay Pacific Airways, you would be treated very well and pampered with delicious food. Once your stomach is filled up with all those great quality food and drinks, you could make yourself comfortable under the tranquil ambiance in the Relaxation Room! The dimmed lightings and the resting pods provide a conducive environment for passengers to catch up on rest before continuing their journey.
