A little history lesson before we dive into the things to do at Niagara Falls city or I call it town. Niagara Falls was a British Military site in 1781 and was later named as the first capitol of Upper Canada (the current Ontario state), and the first provincial parliament was convened at Navy Hall in 1792. For a place with such long history, well not as old as Niagara Falls itself (12,000 years old), this charming romantic town will simply fascinate you in a way that you ever could imagine. Some people call it as the ideal place for honeymooners. 🙂
The Fascinating Theme Entertainment & Cafe
I am not going to deny Niagara Falls is a very touristy place! Probably due to the Casinos and there are many other attractions such as wax museums, ‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not’ Museum, fascinating children playgrounds and theme entertainments or cafes. Not to forgot the long list of many major fast-food chains. You name it, Niagara Falls town has it all. I would say even the most jaded hipster shouldn’t miss out visiting this town, because the Falls itself are simple amazing and spectacular. The shops are fascinating, interesting and chill.
Try Your Luck At The Casinos
If you are bored with the little kiddos playgrounds or theme restaurants, simply go ahead and try your luck at the casino in Niagara Falls. I don’t encourage gambling, but trying is fine! haha
The Canadian Glow In The Dark Bowling Alley
Well, you are in Canada, there are AMPLE SPACE for you. The usual crowded places i.e. a bowling alley, seems big and empty as well. 🙂
Watch The Live Chocolate Making at Fudge Factory
BEWARE YOU MAY BE TRAPPED: haha The Fudge Factory is definitely a tourist or maybe children “trap”! if you walk by this extremely colorful and bright shop with it’s wide open welcome doors, you see piles of candy stacks and chocolates. There is absolutely nothing you can do to stop yourself from going in and indulge. haha Once you are in the store, that’s it, you are hooked! You probably will not be able to leave without out making some form of purchases, i mean subtly not forcefully. haha
There is a live chocolate making performance by the diligent staff everyday. Somehow, I was very fascinated with it and I could watch the staff making chocolates or fudge in the front window of the store for a long time. haha I tried the Canadian maple fudge and strawberry chocolate coat. Both were awesomely delicious! Creamy and nice. The prices were pretty decent too. You should give it a try! 🙂
Fudge Factory is right in the middle of the city area where there are many restaurants and attractions. You can’t miss it if you are heading towards the falls from the center strip of the city. Fudge Factory is a great place for kids or even adults with a sweet tooth addiction. 🙂
Adrenaline Rush At The Haunted House
Don’t laugh at me for saying this, I was a bit freaked out by the “ghosts” or “Frankenstein” when i wa at the Niagara Falls town. They are actually quite funny but sneaky! Most of the time, they will hide themselves in the hidden corner to frighten you. Perhaps, I was traveling alone and it was kinda misty in a strange way according to the Patrick, the owner of ACDD Hostel. Hence, I was a bit apprehensive to walk by the roads in the town. haha
Golfing With The Dinosaurs At Jurassic Park
Being a fan of Jurassic Park, I always hope there will be a real theme Jurassic Park one day, maybe at some secluded island of exotic places! i.e. Costa Rice haha I was really thrilled and excited to see some “dinosaurs” in the city centre. Don’t worry, they won’t bite you, they were actually quite cute! haha Each time when you score, they will greet you in some ways. If you don’t, the T-Rex will come after you! haha Neah, I am taking the piss. 🙂
Located just right behind the Sky Wheel, you cannot miss it when you are in city centre. This mini golf course housed 18 hole course with a giant exploding volcano in the middle of the golf park! The golf course were creatively setup and challenging. Do give it a try when you are in Niagara Falls. If you hit the dinosaur and you can stand a chance to win a prize! Neah, unreal again. haha
Go at night so that you can see and feel the volcano exploding. The dinosaurs basically are models for you to pose with for photos. Just that they don’t require a tip. haha Take a look at the awesome photos I took when the mist hit the entire city, the mist gave it me a true eerie feeling as if I went back to the past during the Jurassic era! haha
Alright, I exaggerated a bit. It wasn’t real to me, but it was really eerie. I gotta self-entertained myself especially I was traveling alone. 🙂
My Vegetarian Meal At Niagara Falls
As there isn’t any fully vegetarian restaurant in Niagara Falls to date, you will be better off going to a fast food restaurant such as Wendys, or an Asian restaurant such as China Express, where they have vegetarian options and side menu. Never a chance to go on diet in US and Canada! 🙂
Stroll outside the town
Yea, basically that’s it! haha I should say, Niagara Falls city is a very small town with a very slow pace. Besides some theme hangout entertainments for teenagers, casinos for adults or Sky Wheel or playground for families and children, the rest are all theme restaurants. Remember, you come to Niagara Falls city for the Niagara Falls itself, so, there are all for evening past time. Of course, there are plenty of things you can do at the falls or outside the city. 🙂

It’s great to hear about all the different activities and attractions available at Niagara Falls. The history of the city being a British Military site and later the first capital of Upper Canada is truly fascinating. I had no idea that the first provincial parliament was convened there.
I love the idea of trying my luck at the casinos and checking out the glow-in-the-dark bowling alley. And I can definitely relate to the Fudge Factory being a trap – who could resist piles of candy and chocolates!
