Food You Shouldn’t Miss
King Oyster Mushroom Burger With Fries & Salad
First up, the King Oyster Mushroom Burger set. My first impression was WOW, the presentation of the food was amazing and professionally done! The fries were made in the Australian style, which was those big and juicy ones (if you know what I mean haha), not the thin crispy fries type that served at many fast food restaurants. I personally appreciate the crunchy and refreshing lettuce salad served together with the burger and fries. Now let’s take a closer look at the Charcoal Burger itself!
I always have a thing for the charcoal burger. To begin with, the charcoal burger was neither huge nor small. I would say, it’s just right size to feed an adult male! haha The oyster mushroom patty itself was a little small in my opinion, as you can see from the next photo. Because of its size, I couldn’t fully taste the combination of vegetable, cheese, sauce and the king oyster mushroom in every bite. Ideally, every bite should be a mouthful of the bun and its fillings. The texture of the king oyster mushroom is usually hard and juicy, so imagine you are taking your first bite on the patty, the entire piece of mushroom potentially can come out on your first bite. Your burger will be left without mushroom, just like what happened to me! haha Overall, I still loved this burger. It’s awesome and delicious! 🙂
Mushroom Trio Pizza
If you are a mushroom fan like me, try this mushroom trio pizza. The combination of cheese and mushrooms worked in perfect harmony and was a heavenly treat! haha If you are lunching or dining with friends, I would suggest you get a variety of pizzas to share so it won’t get too gelat (over cloying).
Charcoal Waffles With Sea Salted Caramel Ice Cream
It was my first time trying charcoal waffles. I think since charcoal bread/waffles are the new “in” thing in bistros and restaurants, they should be good. So, we were obviously enticed to try the black charcoal waffles ice cream. When I tried without the salted caramel ice cream, I could taste a little nice fragrance from the charcoal waffles. It was hard and crispy though, but I kinda liked it. When it was consumed together with the ice cream, the mouthwatering ice cream softens the waffles and went in smooth and easy for my tongue, it was really delicious and yummy. The salty sweetness of it makes it unforgettable! 🙂
Other Food For Consideration
Cheese 3 Pizza
I personally did not try this. I had a bit of carbohydrates overdose last night, nevertheless, my friends gave me the review for this pizza. They mentioned it was fantastic with a unique taste, most importantly it was NOT too cheesy at all, even though this is a trio cheese pizza! haha Some felt there was a mild tinge of alcohol in it. Well, after verifying with the owner, they pride themselves fully vegetarian with no alcohol at all. You can eat at peace! 🙂
Soya Bacon Cream Spaghetti
I am not a big fan of cream based pasta, but honestly, this soya bacon cream spaghetti was not too bad. It didn’t make me feel gelat (over cloying) from the combination of cream and cheese. Somehow the chef mastered the taste and made it quite pleasant for a non-cream fan like me. I personally would add a bit of red pepper chili flakes into it because spicy is my thing. If you love cheesy cream, you could add some parmesan cheese on it. I would say this was a surprise find! Not a bad choice if you like cream based pasta. Some friends suggested it would be nicer if they used the penne to replace the spaghetti. Well, I totally reckon! 🙂
Portobello Mushroom Burger With Fries & Salad
My friend who tried the portobello mushroom burger had high expectation for this. I would say you couldn’t go wrong with portobello mushroom, the sauce in the burger was awesome. On the other hand, I guess our suggestion would be as previously mentioned under the ‘King Oyster Mushroom set’ review, to have a bigger mushroom patty to fill that burger. On top of that, the bread was a little flaky and not those soft and fluffy kind. Also, the bread itself is not charcoal bread and I’m not sure whether you can request a change for charcoal bread instead, but that’s your call. 🙂
Pumpkin Tomato Spaghetti
Last night was a sumptuous treat and there were so many options and we wanted to try them all. haha Unfortunately, it was sadly impossible to try them all in one seating. How much food can we fill right in one evening? LOL This is the consequences of having too many choices! You just don’t know where to start and what to eat. haha Also I was trying hard to avoid consuming too many carbohydrates, hence, I gotta drop out from tasting this. Nevertheless, my friend who was a pumpkin fanatic tried it and kinda liked it. The chef cleverly used the tomato and pumpkin to make the sauce for the pasta, and the spaghetti was well cooked as well. As this was a big portion of pasta you might consider sharing it with someone. I think it would be better to have more mushrooms and lesser spaghetti to feel less sinful. Interestingly, this is a pumpkin sauce based, you would naturally expect a sweet taste from it. Probably due to the overwhelming taste of the tomatoes, therefore, my friend couldn’t taste much of the pumpkin’s sweetness in this pasta. 🙂
Additional Tip
I would describe this western vegetarian bistro just like a Doraemon, small in size but able to pull out many varieties of food, including sides too. From original fries to truffle fries, sweet potato fries, with golden salted york or parmesan cheese, Saute Singapore creatively introduces these to attract the younger crowd and also “unhealthy” (metaphor) diners, like me! haha
Due to their limited seating capacity, they would be unable to cater for a big group or large family from walk-ins. Therefore, I would strongly suggest making a reservation, especially for dinner seating. You can reach them by giving a text message over WhatsApp or to call Saute Singapore to make plans in advanced. I personally find the owner of Saute Singapore and his service crew very friendly and professional. You would be well taken care of in their restaurant. 🙂
