20 Awesome Things To Do Before You Turn 35

Most of the people will shudder once they crossed the magical age number 30 and the thought of 35 is coming! haha Most of us spend our time mostly on work, school, children, relationships and obligations. It can be easily lose ourselves in such hustle and bustle life. Do you often find yourself saying these:

“Well next year I will do that” or “I wish I could do this”

If you think your time is running out and life is moving faster than you can keep up, you are not delusional but simply perceptive! 🙂 The thing is, the harsh reality of life is happening every second and if you don’t grab this “golden” opportunity and seize your prime time to explore and challenge yourself i.e. out of your own comfort zone, experience new things and create new stories and memories, you will soon realise time doesn’t wait for you.

Here are my 20 Awesome, Adventurous and Courageous things to do before 35! Or maybe you can put into your bucket list. For your considerations. 🙂

#1 Travel On Your Own

Only by traveling solo can you find the fear and exhilaration that will make your trip memorable. Sometimes, when we are detached from our home, we will lose the sense of being on a foreign land and adapt to the environment as a true explorer. Traveling solo may not be as scary as many people anticipated. I always recommend amateur travelers to try neighboring and more safer countries to begin with. It will definitely be a rewarding trip for sure.

#2 Sky Diving

Scary as it sounds, sky diving is for everyone including those with acrophobia. It is really nothing to do with the height but the fact that you are jumping off a plane, which is more overwhelming than the height! haha Most of the people (including me), freaked out just before we jumped, HOWEVER, you will start “bragging” eventually when you land safely.

You can read up on another article on: 5 ways to overcome your fear for skydiving

#3 Cliff Diving

Cliff diving is one of the least complicated extreme sport. There is absolutely no equipment to prepare and use, no special outfit to wear and no expensive companies to sign up for, you are not even required to sign an indemnity form. haha It is simply just your body, falling through the air (with style hopefully) from dizzying heights and plunging into a deep blue beautiful ocean below. Think of jumping off an six-story building. That was the height — 52.4 feet (16 meters) that I jumped off the cliff in the Philippines TWICE! haha

#4 Scuba Diving

You will have to get a Padi License and it can be quite an expensive depending where you get the license from, but this is the key for us to access into a complete new world – the deep ocean community! 🙂 You can imagine how “exciting” it is, especially when you do night diving into the deep blue cold water AT NIGHT! 🙂

#5 Bungee Jump

Jumping off a plane or jumping off a bridge, you can choose it but the fear is different. Besides the height difference (well obviously), the experiences are also different. Try measuring your blood pressure, I’m sure you will be surprised! haha

#6 Great White Shark Cage Diving

You watched how smart and fierce the great white sharks are via the movies and documentary. Getting close to the wild great white shark can be overwhelming! When I did it in South Africa, the moment I went into the cage, a 15 feet long great white shark charged right towards our cage. Thankfully, the cage was sturdy enough to withstand the impact! After the  trip, I read the local (South Africa) news online, apparently, few weeks before I did my cage diving, there was a 15 feet great white shark charged right into the cage, at the exact same spot where I did the shark cage diving! Thankfully no one was injured.

Read up and see the video: Video of great white charged into the cage

Okay, such experience is only once in a lifetime for me! haha

#7 Drive In Foreign Country

A favourite quote of mine “If you cannot beat the locals, you join the locals and drive like a local!” haha the most “exciting” driving experience for me was in China! Completely on the other side of the road with confusing road signs. Also in Bali, Indonesia, the people did not have good lane discipline, so I ended up creating a new lane for them! haha

#8 Ice Climbing

Living in a hot and humid tropical country of Singapore, we always dream of cold beverages, desserts like Ice Kachang and Ice cocktails and of course, a nice big delicious Ice Cream! Therefore, climbing the Ice Glacier Mountain fascinates me! haha If you think it looks kinda easy and simple, I will suggest to you to try climb an Ice wall, you can email or leave me a comment, and share your experience with us! 🙂

#9 Up close & Personal With Wildlife

Please do NOT try this at home (unless you have wildlife at home), I mean, do not try anywhere else including the zoo! Wild animals are not human being, and the very last thing you wish to happen is that they see you as their dinner!

#10 Snorkeling In Exotic Location

Some people snorkel in the swimming pool, which I have no idea why. Anyway, if swimming doesn’t stress you out, do snorkel in some exotic places and see not just the fishes, but also the amazing underwater life such as coral reefs, sea urchins, stingray, jelly fishes and etc… I swam with the dolphins in Oman! Yea, what a place to see dolphins right? 🙂

#11 Attend & Appear on a Live TV Show

This involves opportunity! A friend of mine living in LA got two tickets for Jimmy Kimmel’s Live Show. Cousin Sal decided to interview us and played some guessing game on American sports stars. An opportunity for me to catch some celebrities. The audience group were obviously formed by people all over different states of America and, of course, a visitor from Singapore surprised Jimmy Kimmel and the audiences! haha

#12 Come Face to Face with Mother Nature

I am in love with disaster film after watching the movie – Twister in 1996. I actually think the movie is very cool and I wish to see something like that in live! Of course from a safe distance. haha I finally get to see one in Kenya! 🙂

#13 Out of Comfort Zone

Only when you are out of your comfort zone, you will force yourself to adapt, in the process, you find and discover yourself! Out of comfort zone means you depend on no one but only yourself, and you cannot rely on anything as there are nothing you familiar with. Totally strange new environment and people. Sometimes, without mobile internet or electronic devices as well. Can you survive this? haha

#14 Learn How To Pilot A Boat

If you have a driving license, piloting a motor boat will not be an issue for you. It’s actually very simple, in fact easier than driving a car. Just acceleration, brake and steering. Just gotta be aware of the possible obstacles in the river/sea. It’s fun and I recommend everyone to try when there is such opportunity. 🙂

#15 Learn A New Language

Learning a new language is a social key to connect with people from a different culture. All you need is just a few simple phrases to kick start a conversation. You may not be able to fool people’s intelligence with a full conversation, but certainly, you can impress people with a line or two sweet sentences, humorously! 🙂

#16 Learn How To Dance

Imagine you are a SIM (virtual human being), will you wanna increase your artistic attributes? haha Dancing not just a recreational or entertainment, it is a piece of art which increases your self confidence, a form of expression, also help releasing stress and tension. You don’t need to sign up for course, just ask your friend to teach you. Number one rule is, DON’T BE SHY,  just go with the flow and enjoy it! 🙂

#17 High End Partying

An experience for high end partying is something different and an eye-opener! Of course I was honorable to be in the party as it was a birthday celebration of a politician’s daughter in Brazil. The family invited local Brazilian celebrity to perform. I was a bit ignorance and have no idea how famous he is, I was only impressed after my Brazilian buddy, Gustavo showed me his concert packed with over 10 or 20 thousands of audiences! WOW Something like the family hires Celine Dion and you have no idea who she is! haha

#18 Confront A Fear

I hate Lizards and Snakes! In fact, I have herpetophobia. I am still clueless why I sort of had the courage to face and challenge my fear for snake when i traveled alone in America. Perhaps, I am out of my comfort zone and it changed a bit of my personality and tackled my fear as well? It is definitely not my “style” to play with the snakes or lizards! haha

#19 Do Something For A Good Cause

To me, a wonderful trip does not necessary lies on the destination itself i.e. Paris, London, New York or etc… Visiting developing places to see people living in a simple life can be meaningful and enriching. It is a life lesson, serve as a reminder that we are indeed very fortunate, ultimately change and shape you as a better person! Do remember to bring some things for the people there, they will appreciate it.

#20 Change Your Style

Revamp your style and closet. You might be amazed by the change of your new look. Can get some inspiration and tips from your more trendy friends. I am blessed with many good stylish siblings and friends around me and helped me improve over the years. 🙂

My Blessed Transformation :-)

My Blessed Transformation 🙂

Disclaimer: Please do NOT ask me for plastic surgery contact! haha I’m no celebrity hence, no need for plastic surgery. I’m just very fortunate and blessed by the god I pray to. 🙂

Above are my personal recommendations for 20 things to do before you 35. Time flies and I hope everyone will grab and treasure what we have. To me, it doesn’t matter whether you complete your bucket list or not, it is more about the process of making it happen and keep yourself healthy, peaceful and happy.
